Get Rich From Fantasy

Fantasy Defenses We Need to Look Out for in 2015

It is almost that time of year again for all us football fanatics. Fantasy football has become extremely popular over the years as more and more people are becoming involved in it. Not only is fantasy football fun, but it gets you more interested in the game, and you can even win some money and bragging rights with it. Whether you are playing in a league with your friends or strangers the goal is to draft the best team and win it all. An owner of a team usually drafts around 15-18 players that consists of quarterbacks, halfbacks, receivers, tight ends, kickers, and most importantly defense. Drafting a good defense could mean everything to your fantasy football teams success, so it is important to know the solid defenses in the NFL.

Topping off the #1 spot in the defensive rankings are the Seattle Seahawks. For the past couple of years the Seattle Seahawks have had the best defense in the NFL by far, being known as one of the greatest defenses in the history of the game. This year will be a bit of a challenge given the significant injuries that have taken place. Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor are all battling injuries and will not be 100% starting off the season. Having said this, the Seattle Seahawks have an unmatched defensive staff with no weak links. The three leaders leading this defense that are battling injuries will gradually work their way back to full force, so Seattle’s defense may not be an obvious front runner, but they will still have the best defense in the league.

The next nine teams are also formidable, while some are guarantees there are also some sleepers that crack the top ten list. Coming in at the second spot are the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were a big surprise last year as they finished as the #1 overall defensive unit. They also combined for 54 sacks and allowed the fewest points per drive (1.4). The Bills have everyone back this year and are looking to come with the same attack.

Ranked at the third spot are the Houston Texans. This defense runs on the fuel of their all star defensive end, J.J. Watt. Over the past three years Watt has led the league in sacks posting a whopping 51. The Texans have allowed their opponent to score on only 26% of their drives which is a league high. The Texans’ secondary needs a bit of work, but their defensive line featuring J.J. Watt will give promising results.

At the fourth spot are the St. Louis Rams. The Rams started off with their feet in the mud last season, but ended the season with promising results. Over the last 11 games these Rams put up the most fantasy points in the league. With the uprising of Robert Quinn and Aaron Donald, the Rams’ defense can give teams some trouble on a weekly basis.

Coming in at the fifth spot are the New York Jets. This a bit of a sleeper given how bad they were last year ranking in at 27th. The reason the Jets defense can make a turnaround this year because of their new additions and coaching changes. The additions of Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie bulk up their secondary. Also, new coach Todd Bowles will be a much needed change of scenery for this developing defense.

Ranked at the sixth spot are the Denver Broncos. A defense featuring Von Miller and Demarcus Ware is an exceptional to say the least. The Broncos were second, only behind the Seahawks in allowing fewest yards per play. With Wade Phillips taking over as the new defensive coordinator you can see a much more aggressive pass rush attack that will bring the heat to teams.

At the seventh spot are the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have always had a solid defense since the Ed Reed and Ray Lewis era. The Ravens defense were ranked sixth last year and were third in fewest rush yards allowed. With the combination of Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil, the Ravens will look to shut down any team that comes their way.

Coming in at the eight spoth are the Miami Dolphins. This is another gutsy call considering the Dolphins finished as one of the worst defenses last year. The reason why this team has potential is because they made a huge splash in free agency by picking up Ndamukong Suh. This pickup will help their defensive line which can hopefully go along with their formidable secondary.

At the ninth spot are the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are looking to make a push this season and one reason why this might be is because of their solid defense. The Cardinals have hired a new defensive coordinator in James Bettcher who will sure up their pass rush game. The Cardinals do have potential as they finished fifth last year in fewest points allowed.

Coming in at the tenth spot are the Detroit Lions. The Lions lost their coveted star Ndamukong Suh, but they still have plenty of weapons. With DE Ziggy Ansah and and LB Deandre Levy, the Lions can still cause teams havok as they allowed the third fewest points last year.
