Steelers Fantasy Preview

Regardless of whether or not the Steelers are competitive in this years AFC North drafting some of their starters is sure to aid any fantasy owner in their quest for the playoffs.

Le’Veon Bell is one of the top 5 backs in the league and many experts would claim he is the top running back going into this season despite the possibility of being suspended for 3 games. Last year Bell had an average pick of fourth in fantasy leagues and he rewarded owners with an average of 18 points per game. Expect that kind of production to continue moving forward with the quality of Pittsburgh’s offense teams cannot key in on Bell to shut him down. Furthermore, in 2014 he rushed for 1300 yards and caught 83 passes for over 800 yards, he is a surefire pick that will produce points. Despite the suspension going in this year expect Bell to pick up 1200 yards rushing and 600 receiving yards with at least 10 touchdowns.

Next up for the Steelers is wide receiver Antonio Brown who has posted at least 10 fantasy points in 14 out of the 16 games he played last season. This shifty receiver is sure to pick up points and will probably go in the first round of any fantasy draft. At times Brown is overshadowed by Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr but his consistency is undeniable and he should be expected to put up similar numbers to last years 1698 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Finally, the man who pulls the strings for the Steelers offense quietly put together his best season as a pro quarterback throwing for 4952 yards with 32 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Most experts had Roethlisberger as a low end QB1 or high end QB2 going into the 2014 season however Roethlisberger proved those projections wrong by scoring the fifth most fantasy points for quarterbacks ahead of Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Tom Brady. With the weapons surrounding him in Pittsburgh its very likely he will put up similar numbers. Fantasy owners should consider Roethlisberger as a top 5-10 quarterback and should expect to pick him up in the middle rounds of the draft.

To wrap things up it might be a nice thought for Steelers fans to have all three of these players on the same team. However, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown are surefire first round draft picks while Roethlisberger should be expected to be the 5-10th quarterback drafted. On the other hand in an auction league anything can happen and the owner willing to pay for Bell, Brown, and Roethlisberger could basically guarantee themselves 50 points (Bell’s suspension notwithstanding) a week from the QB1, RB1 and WR1 spot. It’s tough to say whether or not its worth the risk, but if there’s any group of 3 guys to draft this would be it.
