Week 13 NFL QB Picks
- Updated: December 7, 2015
As the NFL season hits full stride and the fantasy season begins to wane, every week is a must win with the playoffs around the corner. With players hyper focused on their line ups it only makes sense to take a look at the most important position in fantasy football: the QB. Listed below are three elite QBs who all have very different match up upside this week.
Elite Play of the Week
There is no QB in fantasy or reality that has been as consistent as Cam Newton. Newton is having a special season in that he has turned down turnovers, turned up his goal line usage, all while making one of the worst receiving corps in the league relevant. Newton and the Panthers are taking on a New Orleans Saints team that is allowing 299 passing yards and 31 points per game. The Panthers are trying to finish out the season undefeated so we can see Cam racking up the fantasy points here with his legs and with his arm.
Sneaky Play of the Week
There is no QB more divisive in the league than 10th year vet, Jay Cutler. For years Cutler has been a whipping boy for the Bears failures but now the Vanderbilt grad is showing off his stuff. Cutler has already thrown for 2,510 yards to go along with 14 TDs and only 6 INTs. A healthier Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte along with the return of Martellus Bennett should pay huge dividends against a porous 49er secondary. The Bears are competitive this year but not so competitive that they’ll blow out San Francisco. For those people competing in one day leagues they can do a lot worse than starting Cutler. Thanks to his poor reputation and penchant for flying under the radar, most daily fantasy sites have yet to adjust Cutler’s price to catch up with his upside.
Sit of the Week
Drew Brees is an elite quarterback who he has already posted 3,200 yards to go along with 20 touchdowns. However, this week the hapless Saints are taking on the Carolina Panthers. Brees has posted back to back subpar games against Arizona and Tampa Bay in which he totaled 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Carolina is playing for a perfect season and they’ll likely get up big on New Orleans in this one. Brees is a risky play in season long leagues due to the match up but he is a great play in one day fantasy leagues as many players will opt to avoid his risk.
