Week 5 Fantasy Football QB Match-Ups

Match-ups mean everything in sports and yes, this obviously includes fantasy sports. Each and every week of the NFL season, we find a few QBs who have had some solid weeks in the past but prices are still moderately low. But, when that time comes where they are matched-up against a god awful secondary, it is time to pounce on the opportunity and seize their low price and bog upside potential. This week is no different, most of my favorite QBs on the week are on the cheaper side but hey, we all love cheap players, right? I am going to avoid the obvious names like Aaron Rodgers here because if you didn’t know he was good, well then I have nothing to say to you.

Matt Ryan (FD: $8,300 DK: $6,700) VS Washington

That DraftKings price… On FD, Matty Ice is the 3rd most expensive QB and on DK, he is the 7th (technically 8th, but Big Ben is not playing). Washington’s secondary is awful and awfully banged up. However, in ESPN standard leagues, Washington has given up the least amount of fantasy points to opposing running backs… Seeing a pattern here?

Jay Cutler (FD: $7,400 DK: $5,300) @ KC

No, this isn’t a typo. Look at that value above! We all saw Jay throw up some decent points last week (18.24 points) and he gets the defense that has been the worst in the league against opposing QBs through 4 weeks of the season. If Alshon is back, which is unknown, Jay could be a top-5 QB this week. He still has his trusty TE, regardless of who lines up at receiver.

Joe Flacco (FD: $7,700 DK: $5,700) VS Cleveland

The Browns have given up two or more TDs by way of pass in every week so far this season! That is ridiculous given some of the teams they have played against. Sure, Flacco doesn’t have a group of receivers that are supremely talented by any means, but what he does have have is an elite arm and the ability to use his RB through the air, and very effectively. I like Flacco at home against a pillow of a Brown’s defense. Steve Smith most likely isn’t playing but I still think he will have a solid week, if Joe Haden was 100%, I wouldn’t be so high on Jay.

Carson Palmer (FD: $8,100 DK: $6,600) @ Detroit

The Motor City Kitties defense has clearly taken a step back this season. 0-4 record and they have what some consider is a Super Bowl contender in the Cardinals this week. Palmer and friends have a lot to prove this week after they blundered against the Rams last week but I expect they have a bounce back and Palmer leads the way. He is becoming more comfortable with his receivers it seems and look for him to take a couple of deep shots early.
