Week 8 Fantasy Football: Quarterbacks
- Updated: October 30, 2015
Good week for the quarterback last week as 7 QBs went for 20 or more ESPN Standard points including some surprise names like Kirk Cousins (yeah, I nailed that prediction last week), Derek Carr and Brian Hoyer. Hell, Hoyer at one point in this game was 1-11 with an INT! There are some names I do like this week as well and they are some common names but we may be able to find you a value play or two. Keep in mind that the Lions and the Chiefs play in London at 9:30AM this weekend as you will see the game management skills of Alex Smith show up on this list.
Philip Rivers (FD: $8,500 DK: $6,600) @ Baltimore
Rivers has the ability blow things up in any given week and his match-up this week is outrageously favorable against a defense that has given up the most total passing yards in the league. The Charger’s are failing to establish a ground game and therefore I believe they will air it out all week. River’s is the 3rd most expensive QB in FD formats but the 9th in DK. Read into that how you will but I think he goes off this week.
Alex Smith (FD: $6,600 DK: $5,000) @ London
Detroit isn’t great against the pass but the key to the Chief’s this week is the return of Jeremy Maclin. He should be able to open up the defense this weekend for Alex Smith and the Lions front is decent so running the ball may not work that well. He is the bare minimum on Draft Kings and it takes a bit of scrolling to find him on Fanduel. His ownership percentage will not be high in my opinion and I think if he controls the ball and doesn’t turn it over, I expect a solid week for the value. Leverage the saved money here and use it on some big name playmakers.
Matt Ryan (FD: $8,000 DK: $7,100) VS Tampa Bay
The Bucs have given up a TD pass to a receiver in every game this season. With Matt Ryan returning to the comfortable confides confines of the Georgia Dome, I think he will light up the Buc’s secondary. On the other hand, the Buc’s are solid against the run so we may see the Falcon’s forced to air it out. (SEE JULIO JONES)
Ryan Fitzpatrick (FD: $7,400 DK: $5,200) @ Oakland
This could be the surprise of the list because Oakland is not terrible by any means. However, they have given up the most yards per game through the air in the league. (Not to be confused with total yards written above about the Ravens) He is on the cheaper end of things this week in both platforms and I expect him to be a solid choice for the money. It isn’t a pretty name but I think he will grind out some solid production.
