Week 9 Fantasy Football: Quarterbacks

Week 8 was the week of the quarterback. We had 3 QB’s hit 30 points or more and Drew Brees hit 44 ESPN Standard points last week. While we can’t expect this type of performance every week, many people are thinking this performance will light a fire under Brees and lead to him finishing the season strong. He does have another great match-up this week at home against the Titans. He isn’t the only one who has a solid match-up this week, there are tons of big named and expensive QB’s that look good. I will mention them all along with a few players with better value.

Tom Brady VS Washington (FD: $9,500 DK: $8,500)

Obvious name? Yes. I usually avoid the most expensive player for these lists but I can’t today. He is playing too damn well and is playing a team with a patched together secondary. Yes, the price is very high, the highest overall in Fanduel and 3rd highest in Draft Kings but he is averaging over 25 points per game and is basically a sure thing at this point.

Philip Rivers VS Chicago (FD: $8,600 DK: $6,900)

Monday night against one of the worst secondary’s in the league? Yes please. Only one team in the league has thrown the ball more than the Chargers and this week will be no different. Keenan Allen is out but Rivers has Floyd and Johnson as weapons and is expected to get his old TE back, Antonio Gates. He is the 7th highest priced QB in Draft Kings formats, which is outrageous. Exploit that price and run with it.

Eli Manning @ Tampa Bay (FD: $7,800 DK: $6,900)

Tampa Bay is ranked 30th against opposing QB’s but they 10th against the run. It’s not like the Giants have a run game anyways but I think Manning will be chucking the ball around the field all afternoon. He did throw for 6 scores last week and while that isn’t to be expected, I do see him having a big day and managing the clock very well.

Ben Roethlisberger VS Oakland (FD: $8,300 DK: $6,600)

Welcome back Big Ben and I am sure there is nobody happier than Antonio Brown that you’re making a return to the list. Oakland is ranked 27th against opposing QB’s and I expect a big day from the big man. He looks to be back to his old self and I think he will be able to find his receivers and TE frequently. Remember, Bell is out so expect the passing game to increase.

Jay Cutler @ San Diego (FD: $7,100 DK: $5,200)

Love this match-up for Jay and his finally healthy receivers and playmakers. Jay played fine last week against a MN defense that is much better than the Chargers. A theme is developing here, Forte is out and I doubt we will trust Jeremy Langford quite as much. John Fox will put the ball in Cutler’s hands and expect him to throw up some big stats.
